You’ve just turned 18. You're ready to leave the orphanage and start life as an independent adult. Your sister is over-the-moon excited to come with you. She wants to see what's out in the world, but she’s still 13, and the matron informs you that you must prove you can support your sister before you can adopt her.
You need a stable income, a safe home, emotional maturity. Right now you’re barely batting one of three.
The matron hands you a job advert. A recent widow needs help maintaining her land. It’s far and barely pays, but it’s a start. You’ll have to work your way up before you and your sister can be reunited for good.
